PlayFully – Body, Rhythm, Improvisation

Merzi Rajala

”I welcome you to play and sing with me, as you are – holistically. To unite small games, steps and claps, rhythms and grooves to our voices and bodies and letting those transform into music. We will experience some approaches to vocal improvisation in choirs – as I wish to show you how to get started yourself. You will also get to know basic principals of Vocal Painting sign language and to create music together using the signs.”

– Merzi Rajala –

Merzi specialises in popular music, including world music genres and fusions. In addition to her own choral work Merzi is the responsible lecturer for Global Choir Conducting at the  Uniarts Helsinki’s Sibelius Academy. She loves games, playfulness and she believes in choral music perfomed with honesty, groove and true energy.

Killar i kör

Joakim Olsson Kruse

– att skapa sångmiljöer (i kyrkan) för pojkar

A presentation of the book ”Killar i kör”. An interesting subject on how to get boys to join choirs. Joakim has a long experience in choir conducting and his work with engaging boys and younger men in singing classical music in choirs has resulted in some very interesting reading. Joakim works as a choir conductor and organist in the Västerås cathedral in Sweden.
